The last thing Remiel Calcifet had heard from Luka over the comms would be enough to put anyone on edge.[break][break]
Since then, her encounter with Lulu Flint had left her already weakened team in even worse shape. Unable to defend herself properly, she'd been easy pickings for the next threat that waltzed her way. Out of the frying pan and into the fire— she'd barely managed to escape Rocket's clutches before finding herself right back in them.[break][break]
Should her last message to Remiel alarm him enough, and should he try to find her, he'd come instead upon a ravaged battlefield. Her Sylveon and Lopunny lay prone, and Helios is nowhere to be found. Luka and her assailent are likewise missing— if Remiel wants to find her, he'd best hurry. The night is moving steadily on, and time is unforgiving.

Remiel had since made haste upon GUAVAFANG the SHINY NOIVERN to regroup with luka chêne and ensure her safety. Amidst curses at himself for not having insisted she come with him, the TELEPATHIC connection between himself and his mount stirs worry in the latter. Nevertheless, she navigates the dripping fungi-infested caverns with swiftness and focus.

What had happened? When they'd seen each other, Luka seemed to have been taking all the necessary precautions. Could it be that someone from TEAM ROCKET was targeting her to get to him? The strange echoes that reverberated throughout these underwater chambers did not help in dispelling suspicions and PARANOIA that had been stirring within him all day. Frankly, it all nearly drove him mad.

It was just then that they'd scale a ridge to find a ravaged battlefield ahead. Guavafang is quick, yet careful, to land right at its center before Remiel swiftly dismounts. The worry that had settled in since her last transmission turns into panic. His eyes hastily scan the area repeatedly for any sign of her, but he only sees her Pokémon and nothing else.

'Luka, where are you...'

Retrieving an empty Luxury Ball from his pack, he recalls her SYLVEON before crouching down beside the LOPUNNY with a healing spray in hand. As he tends to the rabbit's wounds, hoping it will stir awake and help him with his search, he briefly turns over his shoulder to regard the Noivern nearby. Thankfully, she'd already read his mind and was sniffing about for Luka's scent with her large snout.

She's trying to attend to her injured team when Theo finds her. Her supplies are pitifully low, but she has just enough to bring back one of her Pokemon. The question of who she should bring back makes her pause, however, and it's in this moment that her unseen assailant strikes.[break][break]

Luka has no strength left to fight back. Without her Sylveon her suit has deactivated, leaving her exposed and vulnerable. Her broken rib throbs, and exhaustion has overtaken her.[break][break]

When the shadows move she fully expects to see Lulu Flint or Darkrai emerge from them again. Instead, she's greeted by gleaming red eyes and a jagged yellow smile. She tries to scream, but the sound is snuffed out like a candle as darkness engulfs her.[break][break]

By the time Remeil comes across this scene, she's already been spirited away. But if he acts quickly, there may still be time to save her.[break][break]

Guavafang's eyes dilate when, finally, she catches onto a scent. Raising her head and twisting it around like an owl to face her master, the large dragon-bat chirps to signal the fact. And Remiel, of course, does not waste a second to act.

Seeing as how the Lopunny doesn't seem to be stirring awake any time soon, he pulls out an empty Luxury Ball to temporarily house it before clipping it to his belt and moving on. His Noivern drops down to all fours in anticipation before the exiled prince swiftly mounts it again. Rather than going airborne again, however, she remains crawling on the ground while keeping her snout low as she tracks Luka.

The search proceeds quickly afterward. Remiel is forced to hang on tight to Guavafang's reins, in fact, as she closes in on the sweet scent of Luka's SYGNA SUIT.

It feels like all the fight has been beaten out of her.[break][break]

But bursts of adrenaline keep her going, her small body thrashing in the Dusknoir's grip whenever she can work up the strength. The wound on her stomach opens again, crimson blooming like a flower on the front of her shirt.[break][break]

She's limp when they come to a sudden halt, but her eyes blink blearily open. There's nothing to see, but she still twists her head in frantic desperation and manages, just for a moment, to wrench her mouth away from the ghostly hand covering it.[break][break]

"HELP!" she manages to scream, though the sound is abrubtly choked off. The echo of it around the rift's glowing walls is haunting; desperate, raw, and ragged, the reverberating wail hardly sounds human.[break][break]

Although she's unable to free herself, her violent struggling manages to do one thing. A luxury ball falls from her belt and rolls off into the darkness, clicking harmlessly against a chunk of luminescent stone. The surface, should one touch it, is almost hot— as though whatever lies inside is conscious and angry.[break][break]

Her scream echoes throughout the dripping caverns of the Ultra Sea and reaches the ears of Remiel Calcifet with a haunting dread.

Fearing the worst has already happened, the exiled prince spurs his Noivern onward with a kick of his heels. The force with which the draconic bat responds spurs a HURRICANE that casts the fallen LUXURY BALL up into the air as they pass it. It isn't long afterward that Remiel's cobalt-blue eyes lock onto Underboss THEO BECKETT himself with a vicious glare.

"BECKETT! LET HER GO!"

He passionately demands as his Noivern sends the HURRICANE straight towards the Underboss and his GOTHITELLE before darting towards the DUSKNOIR.

Luka can struggle all she wants, but punches and kicks simply phase through the Dusknoir. It's like trying to fight smoke. Her predicament feels entirely hopeless, and she starts to go limp in the ghost's grasp just as Remiel and his Noivern appear in the distance.[break][break]

In this moment, she's never been happier to see him.[break][break]

But a timely arrival doesn't mean that she's suddenly safe. Luka's eyes widen as she watches the underboss' Gothitelle cleave a hurricane in two, his threat obvious. She shouts again against the Dusknoir's hand, trying to tell Remiel to just leave and forget about her lest the same thing happen to him, but the sound is muffled and unintelligible.[break][break]

Her luxury ball is tossed around in hurricane winds, buffeted and ignored by the two men. Perhaps it's luck, or fate, or a deus ex machina made manifest. But when it falls to the ground it clicks open, revealing the furious Blaziken inside.[break][break]

Helios screeches, flames bursting around his wrists and licking at the corners of his mouth. However, he doesn't attack with wild abandon. Years of working in Interpol have given the oversized chicken a vague understanding of hostage negotiation, and his hiss of frustration is laced with tongues of flame.[break][break]

Unable to close the distance between them in time, he instead stomps a taloned foot into the earth. It trembles under the force of an earthquake, opening up a fault lines that fissures towards Theo and his Pokemon. If they can be knocked off balance, it may give Remiel a perfect opportunity to strike.

Remiel yanks on his Noivern's fur hard enough for a sharp curve at the sound of Theo's words. Hues of cobalt-blue widen with the realization that, should the worst come to pass, the Underboss was likely not kidding. But then why take Luka alive at all? Either they wished to host a better-planned hostage negotiation with him in the future or possibly... she knew something that they wanted to learn.

Regardless of the motive, the appearance of HELIOS the BLAZIKEN presents an opportunity that the former Admin cannot simply ignore. For now he won't tempt fate with the Dusknoir. Instead, he sends his Noivern shooting towards the Gothitelle with the intent to pounce upon it after the EARTHQUAKE and LEECH LIFE.

In the midst of that attack, however, Remiel casts a LIGHTNING STILETTO towards an area behind THEO BECKETT before unsheathing a tanto blade from beneath his poncho and bouncing off the draconic bat.

Today, Team Rocket would lose another of its higher-ups.

Or so he fervently thought.

the question should be why take luka chêne at all? what use does a public relations officer bring to team rocket apart from her connections to the rangers and certain elite four members?[break][break]

The answer to their questions hangs around her neck.[break][break]
Luka's lunar wing is tucked inside her shirt but she can still feel it against her skin. It's presence has always been a comfort to her, though now it's become a liability. She has no idea if the man who'd grabbed her knows about it, but she can only assume that that's the case.[break][break]
Why else would he have come for her? He's right— she has a few connections but is mostly useless to Rocket. There's no one that would pay a high ransom for her, no information she possesses that is integral to their conquest of Hoenn. In terms of battle prowess or intelligence, she's about as threatening as the Togepi she collects.[break][break]
As a hostage, the best she can do in retaliation is bleed on the Dusknoir. She flinches back when it's fist catches fire— the heat against her skin threatens to singe immediately, and she can smell burnt fabric and hair. A muffled shout can be heard around the hand that grips her face, but any words are unintelligible.[break][break]
And Helios, already enraged, loses it.[break][break]
With a furious screech the Blaziken launches himself towards the enemy. He ignores Theo and the Gothitelle and closes the distance between himself and Dusknoir in the blink of an eye, his speed boost making every move faster and faster. Though he knows the risks involved he chooses to attack directly— luckily, Dusknoir is such a large target that there's plenty of room for him to try and land a thunder punch without hitting Luka.

Guavafang, in the meantime, grips the Gothitelle tight with its fangs during the LEECH LIFE before attempting to drag the Psychic-type against the cave wall with a crackling WILD CHARGE. Though its attention briefly shifts towards the Dusknoir nearby, however, it trusts its trainer to dispatch the evil man and take care of things afterward.

with a snap of its fingers, dusknoir alters GRAVITY, disrupting the flow of movement and space enough to give them enough space to react.[break][break]

the shift in GRAVITY allows dusknoir to compress, shifting to avoid the THUNDER PUNCH. the flames around its fist morph as it sends a SHADOW BALL toward the blaziken.[break][break]

theo isn't quick enough to dodge the tanto blade but the gothitelle, in the midst of being dragged away, summons a PROTECT that deflects the blade.[break][break]

he turns, then tries to shove Remiel Calcifet before taking steps back to create distance.[break][break]
